צִיּוּן

צִיּוּןm. (b. h.; צָוָה; cmp. צְוָואָה) heap of stones, mark, esp. the mark put up to indicate the neighborhood of an unclean place. Erub.54b מאי … צ׳ לישנא דסימנא הוא what evidence is there that this tsiyyun (Jer. 31:20) means sign? Answ. ref. to Ez. 39:15. Y.Shek.I, 46a מיכן לצ׳ from here (Ez. l. c.) we have an evidence for the custom of marking sunken graves; M. Kat. 5a. Ib. b אין מעמידין צ׳ במקוםוכ׳ we must not put up a mark on the very spot of uncleanness. Ex.
